There are, or soon will be, openings on our TLS Board of Directors, and I invite you to consider applying for these positions.  In addition to chairing a committee, board members are expected to attend two meetings per year to conduct the business of TLS.  One is held in the Fall at the Annual Gathering; the other in the Spring, generally in the Minneapolis area.  Travel expenses are reimbursed up to a maximum amount determined by the Board on an annual basis.  Board members also "meet" via phone conference on a bi-monthly schedule.

One position is Development Chair.  This person chairs a committee to create and implement fund-raising methods and explore and write grants.

In the Fall, our current Secretary and Executive Committee member, Harriette Royer, will be finishing her second term on the board and will be stepping down.  We are also seeking a new Secretary to begin serving after the 2009 Gathering.

Serving on the Board of Directors is a good way of experiencing the operational side of the organization, and presents the opportunity to give back to TLS.
