The Celestial Labyrinths: A Journey into Inner Space

with Beth Langley

Enjoy an expanded introduction to Celestial Labyrinths and come prepared for some new information and inner exploration in this revised offering based onBeth's previous workshops on Celestial Labyrinths. This experiential workshop will guide participants through the process of creating a celestial labyrinths journal and drawing nine labyrinths from special seeds. These unique labyrinths can be related to love and creation, energy, power, life and death, transformation, freedom, feelings, connections, and wisdom. Expanded Powerpoint slides and additional time for building temporary tabletop labyrinths will enhance learning. There will be time for reflection, journaling, and sharing.

Beth LangleyBeth Langley has a BA from Columbia College, a MEPI credential at the Primary Level,  is a Veriditas certified labyrinth facilitator, and has a love of art—all things creative.   She has designed and installed over a dozen permanent labyrinths, including one in Croatia.  Permanent installations are at private and public Montessori and conventional schools, private homes, and a church in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Puebla, Mexico.  Her most recent installations are a Chartres-style medieval labyrinth at Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, SC (visible from Google Earth!) a Pelican Labyrinth in Florida, and a Turtle Labyrinth in Gray Court, SC.

Quick and Easy Labyrinths for Community Events

with Lars Howlett

Learn how to create small, simple labyrinths with cheap and common objects for others to experience and enjoy. Developed by professional labyrinth designer and builder Lars Howlett for a monthly art walk in his neighborhood, see first-hand how Classical and Chartres-style labyrinths can be adapted for different settings of various sizes and shapes. Draw these 3 & 5-circuit patterns using easy methods and practice installing them together as a group using inexpensive materials.

Lars Howlett encountered his first labyrinth on-line, Googling ‘sacred geometry’ in 2003. Little did he realize, but this open-source archetype would become a lifelong personal and professional passion. A student, colleague and friend of Lauren Artress and Robert Ferré, Lars is leading a new generation of labyrinth designers and builders. He is the Web Chair for TLS managing their website and social media. He is the coordinator for World Labyrinth Day and committee member for the Labyrinth Locator App in development for smartphones. He has the largest following of any labyrinth-centered Facebook page with a weekly reach of 5,000+ people.
