Weaving New Stories through Drum Making
with Lisa Gidlow Moriarty and Debi Kermeen

Making drums is a spiritual process that gives new voice to the materials and celebrates earth’s heartbeat. Participants will make a 12” frame drum and drumstick from sustainably sourced deer hide and wood. In the process we will be offering gratitude to the sources of the materials used. Deer medicine connects to our heart energy and the feminine qualities of wisdom and love. We’ll discuss decorating, and use in drum circles, labyrinth walks, and ceremonies. The newly constructed drums will be ready for use during the weekend.

Lisa Gidlow Moriarty is an artist, labyrinth maker, Veriditas Advanced facilitator, and TLS past president. As the owner of Paths of Peace, Lisa has designed and installed labyrinths professionally for over 20 years, making hundreds of labyrinths, from canvas portables to permanent concrete installations. On her website, she sells exquisitely detailed Chartres replica finger labyrinths and other designs in wood, metal and jewelry. Lisa leads drum and labyrinth making workshops, and spiritual pilgrimages to international sacred sites. She has a passion for leading others on the creative journey, and brings a sense of beauty and spirit to each project.

Labyrinths, movement, and healing have been a part of Debi Kermeen’s life for many years. As both a founding member of The Labyrinth Society, and former Energy Keeper Chairperson, Debi is also a Shamanic Medicine Woman who weaves together sound healing, energy medicine, and movement, including yoga, labyrinths, belly dancing, and drumming. She is a trained labyrinth facilitator who travels the world, creating labyrinths as “Labyrinths in Stone” with her partner Marty.  She is passionate about working with the nature spirits of the land, the plants, the animals, and the water to facilitate healing for all.
