October is upon us and with it comes the TLS Annual Gathering – our time to come together and celebrate all things labyrinth. The Annual Gatherings have often been described as a family reunion of sorts. This is the one time each year when we come together as an organization, gather with old friends, meet new friends, and re-ignite our labyrinth passion.
On October 20th, we will meet in Taos, New Mexico, to open our 13th Annual Gathering. The Theme of the 2011 Gathering is "Return from the Center: Open the Heart of Peace," and together will explore ways in which the labyrinth manifests peace, uniting all disciplines, cultures, the environment and the universe. We will hear from three keynote speakers: Shamanic Medicine Woman Virginia LoneSky, Crop Circle Researcher Lucy Pringle, and Visionary Artist James Jareb, who will address the emergence of the labyrinth as a way of creating new paths to peace, and the archetypal roles it has played in human and global transformation.
Other highlights of the Gathering include musical and Native Pueblo dance performances, a presentation by Mayan visionary, Ac Tah, panel discussions and concurrent workshops on a variety of labyrinth-related subjects, an Artisans/Vendor area for shopping, the annual Silent Auction, and opportunities to build and experience a variety of labyrinths, both on the grounds and through several pre- and post-Gathering bus tours.
The 2011 Gathering will be my last Gathering in the role of President of TLS. It has been a great honor to serve the organization in this role for the past three years, and I look forward to celebrating and welcoming new leadership as we take the next step into our future. If you haven’t yet registered for the Gathering, there is still time to do so. The TLS website Gathering pages are filled with information, including easy online registration, workshop descriptions, and a detailed schedule of events. All are invited and encouraged to attend this most incredible event. I hope to see you there!

We all know that labyrinth enthusiasts accessorize well. This year you can put all the jewelry and scarves that you no longer wear to good use. Earrings, bracelets, rings, cuff links, bolo ties? A pashmina or perhaps that favorite feather boa you found abandoned in the back of the closet?
Well, here's your chance to buff and fluff it all up for a good cause! Take part in the TLS Jewelry Fundraiser at Gathering 2011 and donate used jewelry and scarves to benefit our organization. This year, the funds generated will be committed to the next major piece of our on-going web site upgrade.
It’s as easy as 1-2-3:
If you’re planning on donating, here’s what we need from you:
- Come prepared with a list of the estimated value of the donated item(s) and a completed Jewelry Gypsies 2011 Donation Form (19Kb PDF).
- If you have earring cards or small jewelry boxes, please include them with the donation.
- Drop off your donation to the Jewelry Gypsy Check-In Table located next to the registration desk.
What's more? Donation doesn't have to be the only thing you do to serve this wonderful cause:
- The Jewelry Gypsies need your help at the vending table! Come have fun with us as we sell all of this wonderful glitz for a good cause. Contact Hallie Sawyers to sign up!
- And don’t stop there: consider browsing the donated merchandise and find something 'new-to-you' to buy at a very reasonable cost.
All proceeds will be donated to TLS, so please help support our organization! We look forward to seeing an endless parade of incredible people wearing fabulous bling that they bought at our table.
The TLS Jewelry Gypsies,
Diane Terry-Kehner
Hallie Sawyers
