The basic labyrinth seed patterns allow us to easily create labyrinth patterns great and small. What happens if you mess with their root structure, tweak their essence and put things in the way of their growing? You create new possibilities for creating art and choreographing people in (sacred) space.
This playshop invites labyrinth lovers of all levels to get creative juices flowing in an hour full of timed, quick draw prompts to pull us away from, dare I say, expected patterns of thinking. After a review of some basic seed patterns, we will follow some creative constraints such as building a seed pattern off a simple symbol to see how it grows, trying out hybrid seed patterns we create from scratch, drawing obstacles to work around when drawing a labyrinth, playing with varied path width and more.
At the conclusion, participants will have a chance to show a favorite discovery and leave with a fist full of new possibilities to explore and render in greater detail on their own time.
Warning: You probably won’t make something pretty to take home. Instead, something you came up with will be like “that song” running through your head over and over… into your dreams.
