Praying The Labyrinth: Seeds of Change

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the Liesborn Prayer Wheel, which dates back to the Middle Ages, and the diagram is referred to as "the third mode of seeing" (Dodd, Riess, & Biema, 2018, p. 4). Similar to the concentric circles of the labyrinth design, the concentric circles of the Liesborn Prayer Wheel can be traced toward the center of the design. Using Kathleen McGowan’s The Source of Miracles, a practice focused on the Chartres rosette and The Lord’s Prayer, we will weave connections between the 2 tools developed in the Middle Ages. Finally we will balance the masculine and the feminine as we experience and discuss Our Lady’s Rosary of the Seven Rays, a rosary practice developed in 1422 using The Hail Mary. Participants will have the opportunity to experience all three prayer modalities on and off the labyrinth and will leave the workshop with handouts. Time will be allotted for sharing stories as well as questions and answers.
