The author presents issues related to the use of labyrinths in a “secure setting”, in this case a high security psychiatric hospital. Talking with the institution staff, presenting the labyrinth concept to patients, awareness of specific limitations and requirements related to the secured setting are discussed. The author also offers suggestions for walking the labyrinth using colors as a reflection point and shares about the building of the 7-cirucit hedge labyrinth at Ashworth Hospital.
