“Building Circles of Connection” is a unique group presentation, guiding the attendees through an understanding of the recent programming works of the Liminal Space Society (LSS), a circle of labyrinth enthusiasts and TLS members who were drawn together in Portland, Oregon in 2018 with the desire to increase labyrinth-related and liminal educational programing within their community. We chose the term “liminal” to describe our focus because it refers to threshold experiences, the transitional stage of a process that captures the transformational moment, as does approaching the center of the labyrinth. Basing their activities at the community center, Cerimon House, as well as creating outdoor and offsite adventures, the group creates yearly offerings of lectures, adventures, workshops, and presentations which blend their love for labyrinths with related programming on subjects of the “betwixt and between.” We offer the model of the LSS as a new type of regional programming, and to spark ideas. This presentation will include a detailed PowerPoint, 6 micro stories of the proffered projects of LSS, a take-away information pamphlet, and a period of time for Q and A. LSS is a group of 7 diverse individuals who invite re-enchantment and reimagining of self and community through threshold experiences of liminal space. The group attending the 2019 Gathering will included author Jodi Lorimer, labyrinth facilitator Sandra Grace Walden, and labyrinth facilitator Traci McMerritt.
