This poster presents information gathered and analyzed during a research tour of select indoor and outdoor labyrinths in Europe. The presentation combines photographs, annotated sketches, and field notes to graphically document and evaluate the characteristics of each labyrinth site.
This tour was part of a larger study investigating the design characteristics of labyrinths and their surrounding environments. The information gleaned from this study will help to inform the future creation of design guidelines, which may be referenced by labyrinth builders and their clients when creating a new permanent labyrinth. Ultimately, the purpose of this research project is to help bridge an information gap that may exist between labyrinth clients and their architects, designers, and/or contractors, by creating a reference to use when designing spaces for a labyrinth. I hope that this guide will help ease and clarify the process through which labyrinths are included in building projects.
