Labyrinth Journeys – 50 States 51 Stories

60 Minute Workshop

Beginning on Miramar Beach, Florida in 2012 and ending in Maui, Hawaii in 2014, the presenter traveled the United States to visit labyrinths. One outdoor labyrinth in each state, created/envisioned by a woman. She shares how the labyrinth sparked her personal journey and connected her to an amazing group of women, each with her own labyrinth story to tell.

Abstract

The primary focus of this presentation is to share how the labyrinth was a catalyst for me to travel to all fifty states, visiting a woman in each one who created an outdoor labyrinth in her own yard (45 states), or in a shared space (5 states). The presentation also focuses on selected women’s stories, highlighting how the labyrinth has played a pivotal role in their own personal journeys. The format will consist of (1) a description of my journey, accompanied by a Power Point of significant events, along with a sampling of the women’s stories and labyrinths I visited, (2) a question and answer session, and (3) a period of personal reflection and partner-share. The personal reflection will give the participants an opportunity to consider three questions about where they are/want to be in their journeys, and how the labyrinth might inspire/support them.
