Pain Relief, Relaxation, Mindfulness and Fun! A Self-Care Program

The primary focus of this presentation will be to share a model of a 6-session Pain Relief and Mindfulness Self-Care Series, which uses the labyrinth as a core experiential teaching tool, interwoven through each session.  The facilitator uses a psychoneuroimmunological (PNI) approach with a focus on stimulating the relaxation response to support the individuals’ parasympathetic nervous system (rest, digest, self-heal).  The teaching session is conducted on chairs in circle, on top of a canvas labyrinth. A psycho-educational teaching approach to pain/stress management is facilitated with a sampling of exercises, which may include: finger labyrinths, therapeutic sound, acupressure, heart-mind meditation, energy medicine/energy psychology modalities, and a positive intention healing circle.  Walking the labyrinth and participating in a sharing reflection circle together will culminate this experience.
