Abstract
Story telling is integral to walking labyrinths. Using Pecha Kucha, a Japanese slide show format, I’ll focus on how labyrinth use has branched out since their re-introduction to the Western Consciousness and how this acceptance deepens our understanding of labyrinths in the 21st Century. The primary focus of my presentation is to explore various types and settings of labyrinths and what they have to offer us. The talk will draw from my personal and participant experiences with labyrinths. Where are labyrinths located? What settings seem to work well? Why? How do variations in style impact a pilgrim’s experience? Why do people create contemporary labyrinths? When should a labyrinth be “decommissioned”? What lessons can be learned from the diversity of labyrinths we encounter?
20 slides: 20 seconds each. Six minutes 20 seconds. Done and done. Then, we will Q&A. The culminating question is: What lessons can be learned from the diversity of labyrinths we encounter?
