Portal presents a personal journey through sound, using the images and sounds of circling black holes as an imaginary labyrinth walk. Spiraling black holes accelerate towards the center, where transformation waits. Activities include a nine minute soundtrack and slide presentation separate from the listening activity. We will first listen, then examine the science and myths of our Galactic Center and talk about some of the sounds in the piece itself: NASA space sounds include Jupiter, mysterious frequencies, and an actual sonification of circling black holes. Nature sounds of water, human murmuring, and other surprises weave and communicate with our galaxy, and vortex spins propel the journey.
