Creating the Labyrinth Environment: the Essence of Place-Making

The primary focus of my presentation is to help participants familiarize themselves with various design principles that can be used to enhance the labyrinth environment. After introducing our goal and objectives for this 90 minute session, participants will view a PowerPoint presentation for the first part of our workshop.

This presentation will introduce relevant principles and give examples of their uses. Participants will then get to utilize the knowledge learned from the PowerPoint presentation to try out principles with several hands-on design exercises. Utilizing sample site maps with accompanying labyrinth programming needs and various cutouts available that represent various design principles, folks will see first hand the effect differing design choices have on the labyrinth environment.

I will provide opportunities for volunteers to share some of their learning observations followed by a reflection and further Q&A time. If time and weather allows, we may step outside for a final critique of a labyrinth in its environment.
