We fool ourselves if we believe that labyrinth walking is popular in all countries. While there are excellent examples of initiatives around the world, these tend to be exceptions outside of the English speaking world and are usually the results of the passion of a very few individuals. For many, the cost of traveling to attend training events and gatherings is prohibitive. Local cultural associations don’t always fit well with the motifs of the Cretan or Chartres labyrinths, not to mention the challenge for non-native English speakers to access information about labyrinth. How can one begin to start making the labyrinth more visible, and to support and encourage those who show an interest in learning more?
Inspired to make the labyrinth accessible to many people, including those who feel excluded from opportunities that are available to many of us, a small group of TLS Regional Reps set about exploring new ways of reaching out and providing support across borders of geography, culture, finance, and language. Through a lively, interactive PowerPoint presentation, opening up to a series of small discussion and reflection groups, this workshop explores the product of this major new initiative, The Labyrinth Launchpad (www.labyrinthlaunchpad.org), to make multi-language resources and support available to a wider world. It invites participants to see how they too can play their part in spreading the labyrinth love.
